Africa 2020: Cairo to Cape town

Cycling the length of Africa has been on my mind for years. The terrain, the extremes, the differing landscapes and the cultures have an innate appeal and huge opportunity for adventure.

In 2020 I am going to go for it and at the beginning of April I will be setting off from Cairo, Egypt with the aim of cycling solo and unsupported through 8 countries to the southern coast of Africa at Cape Town, South Africa.

My intention and philosophy is simple; cycle the length of Africa, riding fast and having an adventure.

Below you can track my progress and follow the adventure.

In tandem I will be raising funds for World Bicycle Relief. Through volunteer work in the UK at a community bicycle workshop I have seen the impact having access to a bicycle, a simple, reliable form of transport, has on people. Whether it is getting to school or work, accessing food, water or medical care, a bicycle is an enabler. World Bicycle Relief is an incredible organisation which helps place bicycles where they are needed most.
